4-Day Trip from Ouarzazate to Zagora & Merzouga Desert via Tinghir

Day 1: Ouarzazate - Agdez - Draa valley - Zagora desert

Departure In the morning toward Zagora via Tizi-n-Tinifift pass to reach Agdez and the Draa valley. You will take the unpaved road starting from Tansikht village through the forest of the palm trees toward the Oasis of Zagora where you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit the first sand dunes of Tinfou and the mediaeval library of Tamegroute with its old Koran books which goes back to 11 century. Check into the hotel in Zagora.

Day 2: Zagora - Tazarine - Dunes of Merzouga

You will continue your driving to Merzouga through Djbl Tafilalet crossing the stone desert over the Anti Atlas with its lunar landscapes, stop for lunch will be in Tazarine village. In this area of desert landscape and fortified villages, which used to be the old caravan road bringing gold from South Africa to exchange for sugar and salt you will continue to the dunes of Merzouga and exchange your 4x4 with camels and ride inside the sand dunes to spend the night in the oasis of erg chebi.

Day 3: Erg Chebbi dunes - Ziz Valley - Todra Gorge - Tinghir

Wake up early and walk across the dunes to see the beautiful sunrise, have your breakfast, pack your gear and ride back to where your car and driver are waiting to pick you up. You will drive in the desert landscape and see many fortified villages in the magnificent palm gardens of the Ziz Valley. Arrive into Tinghir, you will stop for lunch in the heart of the spectacular Todra Gorge, with its huge, breathtaking red cliffs. It is a paradise for mountain climbing. After lunch, take a small hike through the canyons and explore the area. Late in the afternoon, you will check into your hotel in Tinghir.

Day 4: Tinghir - Dades valley - Boutaghrar - Skoura - Ouarzazate

After breakfast, you will drive along the Dades valley to the Ait youl Casbah and turn to the unpaved road toward the beautiful village of Boutaghrar. You will reach the famous Skoura palm grove where you will stop for lunch by the Berbers and continue to Ouarzazate.
